Businesses accumulated in Mitsubishi Chemical Medience Group have achieved a reputation as a long-standing clinical testing laboratory engaged in development, manufacturing and marketing of diagnostic reagents and instruments. Its Central Laboratory was the first to satisfy ISO 15189, the international quality management standard for laboratory tests, in Japan. In 1962, Mitsubishi Kagaku Iatron, Inc. in the group was the first to develop a clinical diagnostic in Japan.
Currently, the group provides medical institutions with total services from clinical testing to diagnostic support systems. As part of its activity, the group offers various options to optimize the clinical testing: proposals for management of hospital laboratories, introduction of diagnostic services. Furthermore, besides clinical testing, it provides multiple services and total support for medical check-ups by preparing a plan, making a proposal, managing the examination, and processing the data. |

Together with Mitsubishi Chemical Safety Institute Ltd., which is famous for its outstanding analytical ability in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, Mitsubishi Chemical Medience Corporation is providing seamless services for preclinical studies to clinical studies under the regulations of GCP. In order to answer increasing needs for outsourcing parts of drug development processes of pharmaceutical companies, total services offered by the group include SMO business and various contact testing and analyses: determination of drug concentrations, or measurement of safety or efficacy markers for pharmacokinetic studies or safety studies under the regulations of GLP.
Molecuence Corporation contributes to realization of personalized medicine by seeking various biomarkers with state of art technologies accumulated in the group such as various Omics technologies. |

DNA chips enable comprehensive investigations of genes by concentrating
a large number of DNA on glass or silicon substrate then affixing
blood after it has been processed. DNA chips can help speed
up research related to the material characterization of genes
or new drug development, they pave the way for personalized
medical care in which treatment is designed in accordance with
the bodily makeup of each individual, and otherwise possess
an array of possibilities.
Mitsubishi Chemical Medience Corporation is partnering
with Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd. to develop DNA chips
that can be used in practical applications at medical facilities.
The companies have developed a DNA chip that makes possible
the advanced diagnosis of septicemia and sepsis, a condition
which causes high fevers due to the presence of staphylococci
and other pathogens in the blood. In addition to reducing the
amount of time required for testing DNA in pathogens from several
days to several hours, the partnership is also currently involved
in developing DNA chips that can successively predict the efficacy
of anticancer agents. Also, Mitsubishi Chemical
Safety Institute Ltd. has formed an alliance with Affymetrix
Japan K.K. an affiliated company of global DNA chip giant Affymetrix,
Inc. The company has led the industry in starting comprehensive
contract analysis services that cover from consulting on expression
analyses using Affymetrix's 'GeneChip' to a variety of tests,
RNA sample extractions, and DNA chip-based discovery and analysis. |
