Films and sheets
The films and sheets of Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. are used widely as packaging materials that help keep food products safe and as functional materials that support the manufacture of ever smaller electronic devices. Because of their superior gas barrier performance and toughness, our nylon converting films SANTONYL and SUPERNYL are used in a wide array of areas such as food product and medical instrument packaging and are being well received by customers. ALSET a plastic film-metal composite coil that incorporates technologies cultivated over many years. It is a product indispensable to capacitor cases and LCD frames. Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. produces DIAFIX, an amorphous PET copolymer (PETG) film and sheet used as the base material for IC cards, and has been recently developing a PETG film that enables rewritability for IC cards.
The PET films Diafoil and Hostaphan manufactured by Mitsubishi Polyester Film Group demonstrate superior physical properties such as heat resistance and dimensional stability. They are used for packaging of food products and pharmaceuticals, and electronics in touch panels, LCD backlight components, insulation and other applications.
Using the wet coating technology, vapor deposition and other core technologies of these products, Mitsubishi Polyester Film Group develops and delivers processed products in line with customer needs.

Construction and civil engineering materials
The field of construction and civil engineering materials is demanding higher levels of product performance than ever before because of the need to use limited space effectively and improve natural and man made environments. For examples, in the field of construction materials, Mitsubishi Chemical Functional Products, Inc.'s metal composite material, ALPOLIC, is a construction material composed of plastic surrounded by metal and all the raw materials used in its manufacturing process can be completely recycled. XL PIPE, is made of cross-linked polyethylene and is used in floor heating systems, snow-melting systems and other applications. Its use is widespread thanks to its superior workability and durability. Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc.'s photocatalyst coating product, DIA PARTITION, uses proprietary photocatalyst coating technology. By breaking down odors and dirt attached to a surface with ultraviolet rays of fluorescent light, it helps make indoor environments clean and comfortable.
In the field of civil engineering materials, Mitsubishi Chemical Functional Products, Inc. offers unique products such as Tensar and Gobimat that cut down construction times and costs for embankment and slope construction work. Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. is also actively using recycled materials in products such as HISHIPIPE, which is a core foamed unplasticized polyvinyl chloride three layer pipe, and RECYCLESHIMASU, a plastic terminal box made with recycled material for public sewage pipelines.

Agricultural materials
MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL MKV COMPANY established MKV PLATECH CO., LTD., a joint venture with MITSUI KAGAKU PLATECH CO., LTD. in April 2004, and intends to build an even more robust business base in the area of agricultural materials. Starting with the longlife agricultural polyolefin film, Daiyasutar, which uses metallocene plastomer to achieve a supple strength, the company will continue to provide agricultural-use insulation materials in line with the diversifying needs of its customers.
IFCO Japan Inc.'s IFCO Container System links production areas and sales outlets. A reusable, foldable container reduces the amount of waste generated, and the system provides safe and efficient transport.

DIALEAD, a carbon fiber supplied by Mitsubishi Chemical Functional Products, Inc., enjoys widespread use in such fields as aerospace, construction (for seismic reinforcement and other applications), because of its superior cost performance. Additionally, the light weight, high elasticity and exceptional strength of the carbon fiber sheet Replark is leveraged for use as a principal material for seismic reinforcement and repair of concrete structures such as bridge piers.
The alumina fiber MAFTEC is highly heat resistant with strong cushioning properties, making it actively used and respected as an autowrap that is used in high temperature environments. Advanced Plastics Compounds Company manufactures a variety of plastic compounds in order to help achieve the functions demanded by the market and meet customer needs.

Heat shrinkable films
Heat shrinkable films
The labels of PET bottles and other products are unimaginable without shrinkable films. From early on, Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. has worked to develop such films for packaging, and its technology and quality in this area have earned high marks from customers. Presently, the company has developed three types of shrinkable films to meet the increasingly diverse needs of customers: HISHIREX, a PVC heat shrinkable film; DXL FILM, a polystyrene-based heat shrinkable film; and HISHIPET, a polyester-based heat shrinkable film. These products are indispensable for use as labels due to their high printability and shrink processability. UV absorption and anti-electrostatic films are also included in this product line. Moreover, the company is responding to customer requirements by developing a variety of grades with shrink properties to match container shapes.

New generation seapage control sheets
Supermetaprene is a seapage control sheet made of specialty next-generation olefin-based resins. It has a high density compared to conventional olefin sheets and can be immersed in water or seawater, making it especially appropriate for and the protection of river dikes. Moreover, it is exceptionally supple and receptive to welding, lending it a superior workability. Another advantage is that it is free from any substances that would damage the environment. The product is used in open ocean and land-based industries in applications ranging from general waste disposal facilities to storage tanks, reservoirs and aquaculture ponds. It is also used in the biotopes of gardens and parks and as waterproof sheeting for the greening of building rooftops.
