First of all, we pray for the souls of the four deceased employees in the fire accident, and extend our heartfelt sympathy to their bereaved families.
We also sincerely apologize for causing so much trouble to all who had been affected including neighboring residents.
As for the situation as of January 25, 2008, we announce as follows:
At the Kashima Plant, the investigation on a cause of the fire by related government agencies has been conducted. Therefore, the resumption of operation at the No. 2 Ethylene Plant is not yet in sight. We will continue to cooperate fully with investigation by related government agencies and make a concerted effort to investigate the cause and prevent a recurrence under the guidance of the related government agencies. As for securing the supply to our customers, we will continue our maximum efforts.
