| Status Report on the No. 2 Ethylene Plant of the Kashima Plant |

Operations of the No. 2 Ethylene Plant of the Kashima Plant of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation have been suspended with the suspension order by the Fire Defense Headquarters of Kashima Southern District, since the fire accident occurred on December 21, 2007.
As we announced on March 5, 2008, the suspension order of the Plant has been partially lifted. Therefore, we are taking every possible safety measures and preparing for restarting operations of the Plant (five of eight cracking furnaces) scheduled for around mid- to end-March.
In addition, we will continue to devote ourselves to secure products for our customers. |
