Commodity polymers and raw materials
Commodity polymers are sold by Mitsubishi Chemical group companies. Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation offers polyvinylchloride (PVC) compounds and poly(tetramethylene ether) glycol, which is a raw material for polyester and urethane resin. In the commodity polymer production, we are developing more sustainable resource processes, too. *Polyethylene and EVA are sold by Japan Polyethylene Corporation, polypropylene by Japan Polypropylene Corporation, and EVOH and polyvinyl alcohol by The Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.

1,4-Butylene glycol/1,4-Butanediol“14BG/1,4-Butylene glycol/1,4-Butanediol”
14BG (1,4-Butanediol) is a straight chain glycol with hydroxyl groups on both ends. It is used as a raw material for high performance polyester and polyurethane resins as well as for industrial chemicals like tetrahydrofuran and gamma-butyrolactone. Since 1982, Mitsubishi Chemical's Yokkaichi plant has produced high-purity, high-quality 14BG from butadiene using our proprietary technology. CAS: No. 110-63-4 (T) EINECS: No. 203-786-5 Japan, Chemical Substances Control Law: METI-No. 2-235 Japan, Industrial Safety and Health Law: No. 2-235 Japan, Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law: Not applicable. Japan, Fire Services Law: Hazardous material Class 4 Petroleums No.3 (water-soluble liquid).

Maleic Anhydride“MAH/Maleic Anhydride”
Maleic anhydride is produced by oxidation of benzene or a C4 hydrocarbon such as butane in the presence of a vanadium oxide catalyst. Maleic anhydride can be converted to maleic acid by hydrolysis and to esters by alcoholysis. CAS: No. 108-31-6 (T) EINECS: No. 203-571-6 Japan, Chemical Substances Control Law: METI-No. 2-1101 Japan, Industrial Safety and Health Law: ID No. 554 (SDS required) Japan, Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law: Not applicable. Japan, Fire Services Law: Not applicable.
Poly(tetramethylene ether)glycol“Poly(tetramethylene ether)glycol”
PTMG (Poly(tetramethylene ether)glycol / PTMG) is a linear polyether glycol with hydroxyl groups on both ends. As a polyol, it reacts readily with isocyanates (for example MDI, TDI), etc. to make resins with excellent properties. Grades: PTMG650、PTMG850、PTMG1000、PTMG1300、PTMG1500、PTMG1800、PTMG2000、PTMG3000 CAS: No. 25290-06-1 Japan, Chemical Substances Control Law: METI-No. 7-129 Japan, Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law: Not applicable. Japan, Fire Services Law: Hazardous Material Class 4 Petroleums No.4 Hazardous Rank III (PTMG650,850), Combustible Materials, Flammable Solids (PTMG1000,1300,1500,1800,2000,3000)

Polyvinyl Chloride Resin “VINIKA™”
VINIKA™ is a vinyl chloride resin compound with many strong points that are characteristic of vinyl chloride including a wide range of hardness, ease of forming, ease of coloring, oil resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance, electrical insulation performance, and good ozone resistance. It is used in many fields and applications including automotive parts, home appliance parts, electrical insulation, as well as residential and building materials.
Polyvinyl Chloride(base)Thermoplastic Elastomer “SUNPRENE™”
SUNPRENE™ is a vinyl chloride-based thermoplastic elastomer in which much-desired rubber-like elasticity has been engineered into the versatile soft polyvinyl chloride while maintaining the good workability of a soft polyvinyl chloride compound. Thus SUNPRENE™ adds outstanding rubber elasticity to the strong points of vinyl chloride resin: wide range of hardness, good molding, good coloring, oil resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance, good electrical insulation properties, and ozone resistance. SUNPRENE™ is used in many fields and applications including automotive parts, home appliance parts, electrical insulation, as well as residential and building materials.
Polyvinyl Chloride(base)Thermoplastic Elastomer “SUNFROST™”
SUNFROST™ is a vinyl chloride-based thermoplastic elastomer that is specially formulated to have a nice matte surface finish with a good texture that is pleasant to see and touch. Of course the strong points of vinyl chloride resin are retained: wide range of hardness, good molding characteristics, good coloring, oil resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance, good electrical insulation properties, and ozone resistance. When surface aesthetics are important, SUNFROST™ is used in applications including automotive parts, home appliance parts, electrical insulation, as well as residential and building materials.
Biodegradable Polymer“GS Pla™”
GS Pla™ has been developed and sold taking advantage of the biodegradable feature, and practical use is progressing to materials for agriculture, such as a biodegradable mulching film, as well as the material of disposable food utensils, etc. The tableware using GS Pla™ was used in the athletes' dormitories at the Vancouver Winter Olympics held in Canada in 2010. Furthermore, Thailand's Ko Samet resort island in July 2010 started to use GS Pla™ garbage bags as part of a garbage composting program. Now, a program is underway to convert one of the raw materials for GS Pla™, succinic acid, from petroleum origination to biomass origination.
SBR-Carbon Black Masterbatch“DIAPOL™-WMB”
DIAPOL™-WMB is a composite material (wet masterbatch) produced by acid coagulation of SBR latex, carbon black and water slurry in an ultradispersion process. It is widely applied as a raw material for industrial products; water seals and gaskets; and tires and belts.
