In addition to solar cell systems that make energy for sustainable society, Mitsubishi Chemical products have also been used as raw materials for building materials. For example, epoxy resin is an important constituent material of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), which has increased use as materials for strengthening concrete. In addition, PVC compound materials are used in construction such as rain gutters.

ZELAS™ is a high-performance olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer in which high rubber content in the polypropylene homopolymer matrix due to a combination of outstanding catalyst and polymerization process technologies.  Various grades are available for medical applications such as infusion bags / bottles, tubes, seals, etc; automotive interior and exterior parts; as well as building materials.

PRIMALLOY™is a polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer composed of a polyester matrix and a rubber domain.  It has excellent heat-sealing with hard resins such as polycarbonate and styrene-based resins.  It also has excellent wear resistance. PRIMALLOY™ is used for everyday consumer products such as pen grips and goggle gaskets. In addition, it is used for door latches in automotive and electrical products.

Polyolefin(base)Adhesive Resin“MODIC™”

By incorporating a polar group into the polyolefin, a capability for adhesion between different materials was created, thus making this adhesive resin.  It firmly adheres to  polyamide, EVOH, polyester, metal, polyolefin, etc.  It is used as an adhesion layer in multilayer films and  multilayer plastic bottles, etc.  In addition it is used as a compatibilizer to facilitate the blending of polyolefins and other plastics.

Silane Cross - linked Resin“LINKLON™”

LINKLON™ is a silane cross-linking resin (polyolefin) in which after the molding process, silane and water inside the material can be activated to react and form a cross-link.  By post-cross-linking, the thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties are greatly improved.  It is used for electric wire insulation, water / hot-water supply pipes, floor heating pipes, solar cell sealing agent, etc.

SUNPRENE™ is a vinyl chloride-based thermoplastic elastomer in which much-desired rubber-like elasticity has been engineered into the versatile soft polyvinyl chloride while maintaining the good workability of a soft polyvinyl chloride compound. SUNFROST™ is a vinyl chloride-based thermoplastic elastomer that is specially formulated to have a nice matte surface finish with a good texture that is pleasant to see and touch.  Of course the strong points of vinyl chloride resin are retained:  wide range of hardness, good molding characteristics, good coloring, oil resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance, good electrical insulation properties, and ozone resistance.  When surface aesthetics are important, SUNFROST™ is used in applications including automotive parts, home appliance parts, electrical insulation, as well as residential and building materials.

New Bio-based Engineering Plastic“DURABIO™”

DURABIO™ is a biopolycarbonate resin derived mainly from plant-based isosorbide.  Compared with conventional polycarbonate resin (hereafter abbreviated PC resin) made from bisphenol A (hereafter abbreviated BPA), DURABIO™ features high transparency, excellent optical properties, and outstanding scratch resistance.  Its puncture impact behaviour are comparable to those for PC resin.

DURABIO™ is a plant-derived polymer but is not biodegradable.  It has excellent durability, making possible its deployment in a wide variety of applications such as for optical ・energy related components, a substitute for high-performance glass components, as well as for electronic equipment ・ automotive housings ・ interior and exterior decor.
