MCC researchers were unsparing in their praise for the students, saying, 'Their high level of motivation was reflected in the outstanding results of their work', and 'The students are extremely capable'. Indeed, the students tackled their work with enthusiasm, really pushing themselves to perform their best. One director commented that, 'We definitely want to continue with this Practice School next year, and I want to recommend it to a wider scope of students'. One interesting comment was that 'By doing experiments we get the kind of evidence we need in our work, so it would have been nice if we could have done more experimentation'. This raises an important point for the development of our forthcoming Practice Schools. From students we heard comments such as 'I discovered the difficulty of selecting research themes in a corporate setting', 'I realized the difficulty of communicating smoothly with factories', 'We became acutely aware of the difference between our image of a big company such as this and the reality of the business', and 'I realized that you just can't study more than 20 hours a day'. The students all realized that the experience of putting their skills to the test in a real-life setting is uniquely valuable.
Below are the teachers and students who participated in this Practice School this year. If you click on their photos, you will also find comments in their own words. |
