As the economy and society have become increasingly globalized, the market has followed the trend of expansion and has gotten more and more complicated. Under these circumstances, the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group has determined that, in order to create more synergy among each individual Group company and lead to further growth, it is essential to develop and enforce our accumulation of 'intellectual capital', including patent, know-how and trademark, for proceeding with our businesses, as well as to utilize such intellectual assets strategically.
As a measure to consolidate the Group strengths, we determined the Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy as "Creation the strong legal right to exclude others" and have proceeded with the IP Strategy activity. In order to deepen the IP Strategy activity, we have established the following IP Strategy and will continue our endeavors. |

IP Strategy
We will create and implement our IP strategy by putting emphasis on selected
businesses, and establish the strategic activity in order to strengthen the strong legal right to exclude others. |

| Following the above IP Strategy, we are making efforts in strengthening
the legal protection and exploitation of our intellectual properties, respecting
other parties' effective intellectual properties as well as taking appropriate
measures if our intellectual properties are infringed by a third party. |
